Description:
Talk Time I is a guide for facilitating
group discussions about HIV/AIDS. It can be used in communities,
churches, workplaces, and among friends and family. There are ten
sessions in Talk Time I,
and each one is designed to last approximately one hour. Talk
Time I will assist people to reflect more deeply
on the problem of HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe. The discussion guide
addresses basic HIV/AIDS information and common myths. It also
covers stigma, barriers, and ways to prevent the spread of HIV. Talk
Time I will help individuals
learn how to protect themselves and their families, and change
the course of the epidemic.
The Facilitator’s Guide provides tips, discussion questions,
and activities for groups and to take home. Seven brochures
are also included:
- HIV and AIDS: Some Questions Answered addresses the basics
of HIV/AIDS. Topics include what HIV/AIDS is, how it
is spread, and how to protect yourself from contracting HIV.
- HIV/AIDS Fact or Nonsense, Let's Face it! is a quiz to help assess participants’ knowledge of HIV/AIDS.
- Risky Business & Protective Action measures personal HIV
risk and protective factors.
- I Can Say No! helps participants learn to effectively say no
to sex by listing common pressure lines and strong responses.
- Weighing it Up shares a true story of making a decision about
HIV testing. It lists reasons for and against testing,
and gives ideas for living positively with or without HIV/AIDS.
- My Personal Fight against HIV/AIDS measures the personal level
of struggle against HIV/AIDS.
- My Community’s Fight against HIV and AIDS measures community
communication about HIV/AIDS. It also promotes protective
behaviour and testing.
