Getting StartedWelcome to the Behaviour Change Toolkit! There are many items to explore on this "BC" Toolkit. You may wish to begin with About this Toolkit to get an idea of the purpose of the BC Toolkit and what types of tools are included. Behaviour ChangeAfter you've read about the BC Toolkit, the best place to start is the Introduction to Behaviour Change. This section summarizes the basic concepts that help explain behaviour change and how to make it happen. Reading this section will help you understand how and why people change their behaviour, enabling you to plan more effective ways to change the behaviour of the people you work with. CategoriesAfter you read about what behaviour change is and how it happens, start exploring the different categories that represent various settings and groups you might use the tools with:
You will find that each category includes a description of behaviour change in that context and several useful tools designed to be used with that population. ToolsThere are eight tools included on this toolkit:
Some of the tools can be used with more than one population, so you will find them in several categories. When you click on one of the tools you will see a description of the tool and links to the tool documents. Some of the tools are included in their entirety on this CD-ROM, while others are excerpted. Contact information for the publisher or author is included to help you order a hard-copy version of each tool. Tool TestimonialsIt's important to know how these tools have already been used to help people make changes in their lives. To help you learn more about each tool, you’ll find a "Testimonial" provided to the side of each tool description. These brief stories will give you an idea of where the tool has been used and with whom, and how it was used to affect behaviour change. Tool FormatsMost of the tools and tool excerpts are provided as PDF documents. If you do not already have PDF viewing software installed on your computer, you will need to visit the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html to download their free Adobe Reader software. There are also some audio files to allow you to hear three episodes of Mopani Junction. An audio player has been included on this CD-ROM to allow you to listen. Navigating the ToolkitIndividual tools may be accessed through the various category pages, or through the Tools List dropdown menu, which helps facilitate navigating to particular tools quickly. The Contents toolbar provides a table of contents for all documents and pages in the BC Toolkit. If you wish to contact the publishers of the BC Toolkit, please click on Contact Us. Included in the Contact Us toolbar is a Feedback Survey with questions regarding the toolkit contents and format to enable us to improve the BC Toolkit in future revisions. |
